| Summary: In this
review article regarding acute ischaemia of extremities, the authors
systematically deel with a relatively frequent urgent state in
vascular surgery, which is almost every day experienced by doctors
of various specializations. The article explains the
ethiopathogenesis, especially clinical manifestations, diagnostic
possibilities of the disorder, emphasizing the treatment of patients
who must be given help in a relatively short period of time, in the
so called «golden interval» the first six hours since the beginning
of symptoms. Special attention is paid to the differences in
clinical manifestations and evolution of the disease depending on
the etiology, as well as to various therapeutic methods. These
methods are described in a simple way so that they can be understood
by doctors of all specializations in order to enable them to explain
to their patients what to expect of the undergoing treatment.
Various diseases that are taken as differentially diagnostic
diseases and their differences in clinical manifestations, regarding
acute ischemia are explained with the aim of establishing adequate
diagnosis. Key words: artery, acute ischemia of extremities
