  Summary:
Due to its position and social tendencies, our country is facing the problem of emergence and development of infectious and parasitic diseases. Work on prevention, control and elimination is managed through the Health Insurance Service and national programs, adjusted to our socio-economic and epidemiological conditions. GOAL: Our goal is to demonstrate the emergence of infectious and parasitic diseases in the territory of the municipality of Zvezdara from January to June 2005, as well as to make a comparison with the same period in 2003 and 2004 in the territory of the municipality of Zvezdara and the period from January to June 2003-2005 in the territory of Belgrade. METHOD: Analysis and processing of the total number of evidenced patients with infectious and parasitic disease in the Health Insurance Service of the HC “Zvezdara”. RESULTS: According to the data from the Health Insurance Service of the HC ”Zvezdara”, a total of 746 infectious and parasitic diseases were evidenced during the abovementioned period. Analysis of the data shows that the majority of 672 (90%) refers to the group of drop infections, the most dominant of which are Varicellae - 592 (88.1%) and Scarlatina - 42 (8.3%) and Angina Streptococcia - 50 (5.2%). Second in line include intestinal infectious diseases - 52 (6.9%): Enterocolitis acuta - 32 (61.5%) and Salmonellosis - 9 (17.3%). “Other” infectious diseases, i.e. the total of 18 (2.41%), include: Herpes Zooster 14 (1.87%), Erysipelas 2 (0.27%) and Hepatitis Virosa B 2 (0.27%). Within the analysed period, we evidenced 4 (0.54%) parasitic diseases. CONCLUSION: Notification and evidence of the diseased from infectious and parasitic diseases is a legal obligation of every doctor. In addition to the national programs and prevention attempts, increased financial support by the government, through social programs related to the improvement of the standard, would significantly contribute to the reduction of the number of the diseased from infectious and parasitic diseases.
Key words: infectious and parasitic diseases, national program, standard.
