Introduction: Chronic rhinosinusitis is defined as an inflammatory reaction of mucus membranes and one or several paranasal sinuses, which lasts at least twelve weeks and is characterised by certain symptoms that never entirely withdraw. Numerous medical investigations have shown opposed views as regards correspondence between subjective assessment of the severity of chronic rhinosinusitis as the most important factor in assessing the severity of the disorder and the findings obtained by CT diagnostics, which are considered to be the most objective parameters in prevalence of this disorder, so the aim of this paper was to examine the existence of correlation of these parameters. Material and methods: 75 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis were included in the study. They were divided into three groups according to the degree of subjective disorder severity assessment. Results and conclusion: The obtained results showed that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between subjective assessment of chronic rhinosinusitis severity and the CT Lund-Mackay score values, (p< 0,001). The average values of the CT Lund-Mackay score were statistically significantly higher only in patients with a very severe form of the disorder, (p< 0,001).
Key words: chronic rhinosinusitis, visual analogue scale, computed tomography
