  Summary:
Allergic diseases are the result of the interrelatedness between the exposure to the allergen and diverse environmental factors in each particular child and his/her genetic components. Asthma prevalence in childhood shows the importance of large differences (2-36%) based on the examined geographical area. In the area of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, we identified the incidence of up to 16%. The incidence of personal or family descendants with atopy is increased in this group of patients (80-90%). Food and medicaments, of whatever kind, contain a great number of potentially antigenic substances. The symptoms usually appear in around 15-30 minutes after ingestion of some food or medicaments and it is characterised by hand pruritus, coughing and respiratory failure, effort restrains, gastrointestinal, cutaneous and respiratory changes, urticaria, vomiting, diarrhea syndrome, angioedema, rhinitis, oral allergies, colics, urticaria with breastfeeding babies, chronic mucous changes, otitis, eczema, spasmodic cough, dermatitis herpetiforme, atopic dermatitis. Pharmacotherapy, along with the immunotherapy and allergen avoidance measures is a basic trias in a treatment of allergic diseases. Three large groups - antihistamines, corticoids and simpaticomimetics have advantage as useful medicines in most developed cases of allergic diseases. Allergic diseases with children in paediatric practice cause a growing problem for better and safer treatment.
